What gets covered
The session runs about two hours with time for questions, and it is deliberately not a sales presentation. The material is the same whether you go on to have treatment or not.
- What an implant actually is. A post that replaces the root, and a crown that sits on it. Why that differs from a bridge or a denture — implant dentistry.
- Why bone matters more than anything else. Bone volume decides whether an implant is possible, and bone shrinks once a tooth is gone — jawbone loss and bone grafting.
- How treatment is planned on a 3D scan before surgery, and what a surgical guide does — computer-guided implant surgery.
- Single teeth through to a full arch, and what decides between four implants and six — full-arch implants.
- What it costs, and how insurance and the CDCP fit in. Including the part people find most useful: what the CDCP does not cover — the CDCP and dental implants.
- The honest limitations. Who is not a good candidate, what can go wrong, and when a denture or a bridge is the more sensible answer.
Who it suits, and who it does not
It is useful if you are weighing up options and want the background before sitting in a chair. It is not a substitute for an examination, and nobody can tell you whether an implant will work for you without imaging.
- Worth coming if you have teeth missing or failing and want to understand the choices, or you have been quoted for implant treatment somewhere and want to understand what you were quoted for.
- Bring someone if the decision affects them. Two people hear more of a two-hour session than one does.
- Not the right place for a specific problem needing attention now. If something is hurting, book an appointment instead — emergency dentistry.

Book an appointment rather than waiting for a seminar. If something is painful or a tooth has broken, that needs looking at, not a presentation.
