Glass Ionomer
A glass-based material that releases fluoride over time, protecting the tooth and surrounding area. Ideal for sensitive areas and root cavities, though less durable than composite.
Laser-Enhanced Composite
Composite placed with precision laser technology for optimal hardening and bond strength. Our premium option, recommended for larger or more complex cavities.
Why tooth-coloured beats silver
Traditional amalgam fillings are durable, but they are visible and they require removing more healthy tooth structure to create the mechanical shape that holds them in place.
Composite bonds directly to the tooth. That means less drilling, more of your own tooth preserved, and a repair that does not announce itself every time you laugh.
Our composites use current light-curing technology to achieve maximum hardness and durability. With good care they last ten to twelve years.
Common questions
How long do composite fillings last? +
Typically ten to twelve years with good oral hygiene, longer depending on the size and location of the filling. Amalgam lasts longer — fifteen to twenty years — but we recommend composite for the combination of esthetics and tooth preservation.
Is the procedure painful? +
No. The area is fully numbed with local anesthetic, and most patients find a filling appointment straightforward. Nitrous oxide is available if you find dental work stressful.
Can old silver fillings be replaced? +
Yes. We commonly replace amalgam fillings that are failing, leaking, or cracking the tooth around them — and often for esthetic reasons at the same time.
Will the colour match my teeth? +
Composite is shade-matched to your existing teeth before placement. Once polished, a well-placed composite filling is genuinely difficult to spot.
