With almost nothing left to hold the upper lip out, the few remaining teeth did not show at all when he smiled. Full-arch rehabilitation of both arches gives the lip something to rest against again, and the smile reads as his own rather than as dental work.

What the transformation involves
The visible change is the easy part to photograph. The clinically significant change is underneath: bone that was resorbing is loaded again, a collapsed bite is restored to its correct vertical dimension, and chewing function returns to something close to normal.
Patients consistently report that the functional change — being able to eat properly again — mattered more to them than the appearance, even when appearance was what brought them in.
