Dentures that stay put
Removable overdentures or fixed implant-retained dentures, anchored by two to four strategically placed implants — greatly reducing slipping and adhesive dependence.
A conventional denture rests on gum tissue and relies on suction and adhesive to stay in place. As the underlying bone resorbs — which it does continuously once teeth are gone — the fit deteriorates and the slipping gets worse.
Anchoring the denture to implants changes both problems at once. The denture is held mechanically rather than by suction, and the implants load the bone so it stops disappearing.
Two approaches
Snap-On Overdentures
Removable, retained by two to four implants with attachments that click into place. Lower cost, and you take it out at night to clean. A significant upgrade on a conventional denture without the cost of a fixed arch.
Fixed All-on-4 Dentures
Permanently fixed to four or more implants and not removed by you at all. Higher cost, added stability, and cared for much like natural teeth.
Common questions
How many implants will I need? +
Most patients need two to four. The upper arch typically requires two; the lower arch often benefits from four, because the lower jaw takes more of the chewing load and has less surface area for a conventional denture to grip.
How long does treatment take? +
Four to six months in total — consultation, implant placement, bone healing, and final denture fitting.
What if I don't have enough bone? +
Bone grafting can be performed four to six months before implant placement to build the foundation. Long-term denture wear is one of the most common causes of the bone loss we are correcting.
How do I care for them? +
Overdentures come out daily for cleaning, much like a conventional denture but far more secure while in. Fixed All-on-4 dentures are cleaned in place, essentially like natural teeth.
