DENTAL ANXIETY

Fear of Needles — You're Not Alone

Needle phobia is common, real, and treatable — we have solutions

A fear of dental needles is one of the most specific — and most common — forms of dental anxiety. For some patients, the anticipation of an injection is the single barrier that prevents them from seeking the care they need.

HOW WE HELP

Solutions at Vitality Health

Topical Anesthetic

A numbing gel is applied to the gum tissue before any injection, so the needle prick is minimised or not felt at all. This is standard practice for every patient, every time — at no additional cost. Our team uses the latest technology and clinical expertise to deliver optimal results. Every procedure is tailored to your specific anatomy, health, and goals. We combine precise digital planning with surgical expertise to ensure your treatment meets the highest standards. Your comfort, function, and natural-looking results are our priorities throughout your care journey. Whether your case is straightforward or complex, we have the experience and technology to achieve exceptional outcomes. Contact us to discuss how we can restore your smile.

Gentle Injection Method

The clinicians at Vitality are experienced with anxious patients. Injections are administered slowly, with thin-gauge needles, and at a pace that respects your comfort. Communication before and during the injection helps you stay calm. Our team uses the latest technology and clinical expertise to deliver optimal results. Sedation Options Available

For patients whose needle phobia is severe enough to prevent them from accepting local anesthesia, sedation provides an alternative path. Nitrous oxide can calm you before the injection. IV sedation allows the entire procedure while deeply relaxed. Conscious sedation keeps you relaxed throughout your procedure while remaining responsive to our team. You'll have minimal memory of the appointment and experience no pain or anxiety during treatment. Dr. Steven Ing, our on-site anesthesiologist, personally administers and monitors sedation. Your vital signs are continuously tracked, and oxygen is available if needed, ensuring your safety at every moment. Sedation dentistry is especially beneficial for complex procedures, lengthy appointments, or patients with needle phobia. Many patients report that sedation made their treatment experience so comfortable they wished all their dental care could be done this way.

SEDATION DENTISTRY Beyond Topical Anesthetic

For patients with severe needle phobia, sedation dentistry offers a path forward. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) reduces anxiety and awareness of discomfort.

IV sedation — administered by Dr. Steven Ing, dental anesthesiologist — allows you to undergo extensive treatment in a deeply relaxed state, with minimal awareness of injections or procedures. You wake up and the work is complete.
