Bone Graft Materials We Use
Choosing the Right Graft for Your Sinus
At Vitality Dental, we offer multiple bone grafting options to suit your clinical needs and preferences:
Autologous (Your Own Bone): The gold standard—we harvest bone from your chin or jaw and use it to graft the sinus. It's entirely biocompatible with zero rejection risk. Ideal for patients willing to undergo dual-site surgery.
Allograft (Cadaverous Human Bone): Sterilized, processed human bone from tissue banks. Excellent integration, no donor site morbidity, and consistent availability. FDA-approved and widely successful.
Xenograft (Animal-Derived): Bovine or porcine bone undergoes demineralization and processing to match human bone properties. Provides excellent scaffold support and integrates predictably.
Synthetic (Bone Substitute): Lab-engineered materials mimicking natural bone chemistry. Fully resorbed as your body's bone forms, eliminating foreign material long-term.
Combination Approach: Often the most predictable. We layer your own bone with allograft or xenograft, maximizing biology while extending graft volume. Dr. Tocchio and our dental anaesthetist select the optimal combination based on your anatomy and goals.
