Why Accuracy Matters
The difference between passive fit and stress
When a prosthesis is supported by multiple implants, even small discrepancies between the actual implant positions and the positions recorded in the impression can create problems. A prosthesis that does not fit passively — one that must be forced into position — places stress on the implants, the bone, and the prosthetic components.
Over time, this can lead to screw loosening, component fracture, or bone loss. Photogrammetry addresses this by capturing each implant position independently using a series of photographs, then triangulating the positions with sub-micron accuracy. The result is a digital model that accurately represents the implant positions in the jaw — which is then used to design and fabricate the prosthesis with verified passive fit.
